Weekly Announcements: April 7th, 2019

  • We will have the Joint Choir singing on Easter Sunday (4/21). The Joint Choir will be conducted by Mr. Sidney Wong. Starting from today. Please join the rehearsal every Sunday, from 12:45—1:30 pm in the Sanctuary.
  • Anyone who wants to get baptized, confirmed or joining our church on Easter Sunday, 4/21, please contact Rev. Ernest Kan.
  • The Samuel Fellowship meeting is going to be held today, 4/7, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in social hall.
  • Friday Fellowship and the Gospel Cantonese Opera will host jointly the Easter party to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus on 4/12. All are welcome.
  • The All Church Retreat will be running from 6/6, Thursday to 6/9, Sunday. The Chinese speaker is Rev. Cheung who is the Chinese Christian Herald Center. The English speaker is Pastor Daniel Lowe.
  • After graduated from the Fullers Theological Seminary in Los Angeles, Pastor Daniel Lowe is serving as the pastor of the Living Stone Christian Church in Milpitas. Please save the date and pray for the planning committee.
  • Our Church will hold jointly a workshop with the Chinese Christian Herald Crusade on Saturday, 5/4, at 2:30PM in the sanctuary. The seminar is “How to prevent your children from being a Drug Addict”. This is an one of the outreaching program of the Church. Please spread the news and invite your Chinese speaking friends to come.
  • We are going to work with Self-help for the Elderly to host the Seismic Safety Outreach Program on 5/5, 5/19 and 6/2 from 2:00-3:30PM. Those who can finish the whole course will receive a certificate and a earthquake survival kit as gift.
  • Pastor Kan will attend the Bay District meeting on Monday, 4/8, at 2:00 pm at Temple United Methodist Church in San Francisco. He will meet with the Bishop and her Cabinets on Thursday, 4/11, at 11:00 am in Sacramento Conference Center together with other Chinese pastors. Please pray.

Weekly Announcements: March 10th, 2019

  • We would like to thank Mr. Sau-Wing Lam for coming today, 3/10. to share with us about the gospel of Jesus Christ. May the Lord bless him and his family. After his early retirement from the banking industry at the age of 45, Mr. Sau-Wing Lam devoted his time to help the Chinese immigrants in the financial management through the radio and TV broadcast. He also involves in preaching the gospel wherever he was available.

  • We’ll have our All Church Luncheon today, Mar 10th , shortly after the Chinese-Speaking Worship Service at around 12:15 pm. Please stay for the simple lunch prepared for all and enjoy the fellowship with your church family.
  • The All Church Retreat will be running from 6/6, Thursday to 6/9, Sunday. The speaker is Rev. Victor Chan who was the founder of the East Bay Alliance Church. He is now retired and is teaching in the Theological Seminary as guest professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. After graduated from the Fullers Theological Seminary in Los Angeles, Mr. Daniel Lowe is serving as the pastor of the Living Stone Christian Church in Milpitas. Please save the date and pray for the planning committee.
  • The Methodist Fellowship Group will meet on 3/24 at the Chapel. Members please mark your calendar.
  • The Bay Area District of the Annual Conference will hold the 2nd meeting on Training & Ministry Action Plan Orientation at San Leandro First UMC from 9-3pm on Saturday, 3/30. Mrs. Christin Wong and Pastor Kan will attend to share our plan. We are in the process of inviting representatives from the Chinese and English congregations. You are welcome to volunteer. Please pray.
  • The Board of Directors of the Chinese Christian Union will meet at the Presbyterian Church in Chinatown on Tuesday, 3/19, at 2:00 PM. Mr. Thomas Xiao, Mrs. Betty Chia and Rev. Ernest Kan are our delegates. Rev. Ernest Kan will be the acting Chairman for the meeting.

  • The 2019 BASS Church Workers Convention will be held in Castro Valley, CA from March 8-9. Please use the following code to use on the BASS Website (https://bassconvention.org/express_pass.cfm) to print out your Express Pass and Name Badge. Cut out the Name Badge, bring it to the convention and BASS will provide the plastic sleeves when you arrive here. The Chinese United Methodist Church code is PMMDC.

  • Bishop Carcaño will be speaking to us about the vision for the new Bay District on January 12th, 2019 at New Vision UMC in Millbrae (450 Chadbourne Ave, Millbrae, CA 94030) from 9am-2 pm. It will be a day of exciting worship and strategic conversations. This event is for every pastor, lay leader, and others leaders to attend.
  • We’ll have our All-Church Luncheon on Sunday, Jan. 20th, shortly after the Chinese-Speaking Worship Service at around 12:45 pm. Please mark your calendar & plan to stay for the simple lunch prepared for all and enjoy the fellowship with your church family.
  • The San Francisco Chinese Christian Union (SFCCU) will host a fundraising banquet on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Far East Café, 631 Grant St., in Chinatown. The dinner program will start at 5:30 pm. The purpose of the Fund Raising is to raise fund for the Cemetery Ministry which is about $5,000 each year. We are going to collect the Caring Fund from Jan to March for the CCU Cemetery Ministry. Please write check payable to ‘CUMC’ and write Dinner donation on the envelope.
  • The Chinese Christian Union San Francisco Board of Directors elected the Rev Tan Tieu of the Chinese Grace Church to be the 2019 President of the CCUSF in November 2018 Board meeting.
  • As a member of the Chinese Christian Union San Francisco, we are going to support their Cemetery Ministry by donating our Charity Fund from January to March. Please write check payable to our church ’CUMC’.
  • Flowers’ donation is a way of Thanksgiving to the Lord, or in memory of your loving family members. The Jan. – June, 2019 Flowers Fund Chart is posted in the hallway. Donations are welcome. Please put your flower offering into the pew envelopes with the specific dates.
  • Pastor Kan will attend the Conference Clergy Retreat at Modesto First UMC, Modesto, from 1/29-31.

  • The San Francisco Chinese Christian Union (SFCCU) will host a fundraising banquet on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Far East Café, 631 Grant St., in Chinatown. The dinner program will start at 5:30 pm. We already prepaid for 2 tables for twenty people. Each ticket $35.00 Please feel free to sign up with Mrs. Betty Chia or Mr. Thomas Xiao.

  • We will have the Joint Choir singing on Christmas Sunday. The Joint Choir will be conducted by Mrs. Celia Kan. Please join the rehearsal every Sunday, from 12:45—1:30 pm in the Sanctuary.
  • We are collecting donation to support the Camp Fire victims in the Northern California. Please use the “Love Envelope” for the donation purpose or the Tithing envelopes specifying for “Camp Fire”. Please write check payable to ‘CUMC’. Donation will then collected and send to the UMCOR to help the victims.
  • Friday Fellowship and the Gospel Cantonese Opera will host jointly the Christmas party to celebrate Christmas on Dec 14 at 2:00 pm in the Social Hall. All are welcome.
  • The Chinese congregation of the Temple United Methodist Church invites our Cantonese Opera Choir to perform in their outreaching event on Saturday, 12/15 at 2:30 pm. The Rev. Ernest Kan is the speaker. Please pray for the evangelistic event.
  • The Chinese ministry committee is going to host the Christmas Eve Caroling at around 4:00 pm, simple dinner at around 6:30 pm and Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at around 8:00 pm. Please save the time and date.
